UHMW-PE – Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene

UHMWPE which is also known as Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic polymer that has very high abrasion resistance, performing better than other engineering thermoplastics in the Sand-Slurry abrasion test. It also have very good impact resistance (better than other grades of polyethylene such as HDPE & HMWPE) when measured using the Izod and Charpy tests, in both notched and un-notched conditions.

UHMWPE has one of the lowest co-efficient of friction values of all engineering materials, making it the perfect material for conveyor decks, wear strips, bearings, bushes and slides.

All Polyethylene (PE) grades, including UHMWPE, have very good chemical resistance. They are resistant to a broad range of chemicals and concentrations, including acids and alkaline (base) solutions. Our qualified technical engineers can advise on specific chemical resistance based on temperature, concentration and your particular application.

UHMWPE is available in sheet and rod stock shapes.
